Every firm's got a story. Here's ours - the ups, the downs, and everything that shaped who we are today.
Started in a cramped office with just three of us and way too much coffee. We had this wild idea that corporate law didn't have to be boring or intimidating. Took on our first client - a tech startup that couldn't afford the big firms. They're still with us today, now worth millions.
Moved to Bay Street - felt like we'd made it. Added our litigation practice after winning a case we probably shouldn't have taken on. Sometimes the riskiest moves teach you the most. Expanded the team to 12 lawyers and realized managing people is harder than arguing in court.
Handled our first major M&A deal - $50M transaction that kept us up for weeks. Also launched our IP protection practice because so many clients were getting burned by competitors. Started thinking bigger about what we could offer beyond just putting out fires.
Pandemic hit and we went fully remote in 48 hours. Learned that Zoom depositions are weird but workable. Clients needed us more than ever as business models shifted overnight. We helped dozens navigate PPP issues, contract renegotiations, and employment law nightmares nobody saw coming.
Now we're 25 strong with clients across Canada and beyond. We've handled everything from tiny contract disputes to multi-million dollar litigation. Still in that Bay Street office, but it fits better now. We've learned that good legal work comes from understanding people, not just memorizing statutes.

Started the firm back in 2009 with nothing but student loans and ambition. Spent 15 years before that at a big corporate firm and hated every minute of the politics. Now I get to practice law the way it should be - focused on clients, not billable hours. Love M&A work and somehow still enjoy contract negotiations. Three kids keep me grounded outside the office.

Joined in 2011 fresh out of Osgoode and never looked back. I'm the one who pushes hardest in court - probably because I grew up arguing with four siblings. Specialize in commercial disputes and honestly love the adrenaline of trial work. Outside the courtroom, I'm obsessed with true crime podcasts and training for marathons I'll probably never run.

Former software engineer who went to law school because I was tired of watching startups get screwed over IP issues. Been with the firm since 2015 and built our tech law practice from scratch. I actually understand the technology our clients are building, which seems rare in this field. Weekends you'll find me tinkering with side projects or rock climbing.

Came aboard in 2019 after clerking for a judge who taught me to cut through the nonsense. Handle all our employment disputes and compliance work - turns out people are way more complicated than contracts. I'm passionate about making workplaces actually fair, not just legally compliant. Amateur chef who brings way too many baked goods to the office.

Joined fresh in 2021 and learned more in my first year here than three years of law school. Focus on corporate governance and compliance - making sure businesses don't accidentally break rules they didn't know existed. Detail-oriented to a fault, which drives my colleagues crazy but saves clients headaches. Big soccer fan and mediocre guitar player.
Associate, M&A
Came from investment banking because I wanted to understand the legal side of deals. Best decision ever - turns out I'm better at negotiating than spreadsheets. Handle our mid-market M&A transactions and love the puzzle of getting deals across the finish line. Obsessed with interior design and have redecorated my apartment like five times.

Started in 2020 right as the pandemic hit - weird timing but made me adaptable fast. Specialize in drafting and negotiating all types of business contracts. I'm the guy who actually reads every word and catches the stuff that'll bite you later. Former semi-pro basketball player who still hits the court whenever possible.
Junior Associate
Newest member of the team as of 2024 and still learning something new every day. Helping across multiple practice areas and soaking up everything I can. Went to law school to help people navigate complex systems, and this firm actually lets me do that. Coffee enthusiast who's trying every cafe in Toronto.
